How it works

How Files To Other Devices Works

Files To Other Devices uses Wi-Fi Direct (Wi-Fi P2P) technology to transfer files directly between Android devices. This allows fast wireless file transfer without using mobile data, cloud storage or USB cables.

Both Android devices must have the Files To Other Devices application installed and Wi-Fi enabled. The application uses Wi-Fi Direct to discover nearby devices and establish a direct connection between them.

One device acts as the sender and selects the files to transfer, while the other device acts as the receiver and saves the incoming files. The sender keeps the original files on the device, while the receiver receives a copy of the selected files.

Steps to Transfer Files

1. Install Files To Other Devices on both Android devices.
2. Enable Wi-Fi on both devices.
3. Open the application on both devices.
4. Search for available devices.
5. Select the device you want to connect to.
6. Confirm the connection request on both devices.
7. Select the files you want to send.
8. Start the transfer and wait until it is completed.

During the transfer, both devices should remain nearby and connected.Transfer speed depends on device performance, wireless conditions and the size of the selected files.

Where Are Received Files Stored?

By default, received files are saved in the Download folder on the receiving device.

You can change the destination folder at any time:

  • Open the side menu
  • Select Settings (gear icon)
  • Choose the destination folder
  • Save the new location

This allows you to save received files to internal storage, SD card folders or other locations available on your device.

The receiving device automatically stores incoming files in the selected destination folder. The sending device only transfers files and does not modify or remove the original files stored on the device.
